Direct TV has a 90% discount, so it is a scam, and legitimate companies cannot provide such a great deal.
It was not a robo call, but a fake AT&T representative with a thick Indian accent, asking for a discount on TV services, an email address to which he would send a link to a product page, and payment via gift card.
